Wednesday Cardio and Strength

Today I did Denise Austin Fat Burning Blast (45 min). OMG. It was so hard. It was 3 1/2 minutes of cardio (mostly sports drills) then 1 1/2 minutes of weights. Even Denise was out of breath a lot of the time. I don't think I'll do it again. Susan Powter is always screaming about how you have to be in "oxygen" to burn fat so I think it was way to hard when your out of breath and beat red in the face like I was. And some of the weight exercises she doesn't do enough reps. I think it would be better to do weights and cardio separately. I have a headache now, not a good sign. Prevention Walk your way Slim is hard enough for, and probably Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds 3 miles which I haven't done yet.

It is cold and cloudy. It's been warming up in the afternoon lately, but I don't think it will today.

Yesterday I bought Buns of Steel Power Yoga. The teacher has bad from on a lot of poses but the students look fine so I will try it sometime.

Tuesday Cardio & Yoga

Today I did Kathy Smith March to Fitness (30 min) and then 20 minutes of yoga.

It was cold and foggy this morning, hopefully it will warm up.

Monday Strength

Today I did Denise Austin's Shortcuts for Arm and Chest (10 min) and Leslie Sansone's Power Firm for legs with 2 lb ankle weights (20 min). Whew!

I bought a new tape, Denise Austin Ultimate Fat Burner. It's cross training looks tough, and high impact. Well, you never know until you try.

Sunday Cardio & Yoga

Today I did Richard Simmons Blast Off (20 min) then I did Yoga Zone's Introduction to Yoga but I fast forwarded during the long explanations because I know how to do the poses well now. This was the first yoga tape I bought, I am much more flexible now. My lower back has been sore, I guess my muscles are tight (hamstings especially) from all the cardio and I need to stretch more. That's why I started doing Yoga 2 years ago, to keep my back healthy. It seems like when it gets colder this time of year my back gets tight and sore. The yoga should help.

I got Yoga Zone Flexibility and Tone from the library today, that's a harder tape, or it was the last time I tried it. I also checked out Buns of Steel Yoga, according to the reviews on Amazon it's supposed to be really good. I also borrowed In Shape with Racheal McLish.

And I bought my own copy of Denise Austin's Totally Firm. It's my favorite strength training video, lots of exercises at a good pace and she is very encouraging. I have Kathy Smith's Lift Weights to Loose Weight but she's a real slave driver in it and her screaming and wolf howls are annoying. I also have Lifting Weights for Dummies but of course since it's for beginner's it's slow.

Mom got a ton of Concord grapes at the fruitstand today so she's going to make grape jelly. It should be really good, not to sweet like what they have at the grocery store. It's probably been 25 years since she made any.

Saturday Cardio

Today I did the Prevention Walk Your Way Slim video (45 min). Boy it really made me sweat and work hard.

I went to a Knit In today at a local craft store. I already know how to knit. This lady tried to show me how to crochet but she kept crocheting the granny square and didn't let me try for a long time and her 2 boys kept running around screaming. They were hopped up on sweat tarts and candy bracelets. I'm not very interested in crochet anyway. (I am knitting a washcloth right now. It takes a long time but it's easy) I won a Knit In tote bag with a Lion Brand Yarn knitting bag inside and size 17 needles (didn't have those that short, god they are short!) some point protectors and a round knitting thing with pegs (don't know what it's called). Mom won a neat tote, some 11 needles, point protectors and 3 skeins of some fluffy Pattons baby yarn. I will probably try to sell her yarn on ebay, I don't think I want to knit scarves with it and she doesn't want it.

Friday Cardio

Today I did the last 35 min of Groovin' in the House.

I had to buy new anti-virus software, so I went to Staples and got Norton 2005. They had a Staples branded version of Panda but I'll just stick with what I know works. I had McAfee before but didn't like it because it took up to much resources and caused problems. I also got a new Champion sports bra, it's underwire and has a hook in the back so it's a lot easer to get on then the regular over the head kind. And I got a Denise Austin video, Kickin' Country.

Thursday Cardio

Today I did the Kathy Smith March to Fitness (28 minutes). It was pretty easy but still and good workout. It isn't monotonous like the Leslie Sansone tapes.

The weather really sucks. It's cold and rainy. I can't believe it's so yucky out already. My golden retriever is really depressed.

Wednesday Cardio

Today I Kelly Roberts Circuit Real Fitness tape. I did all three segments of step and one with the exercise band, but I have a tube and it didn't work very well. Next time I'll try to use weights or skip it. The step was good, not to hard and not boring.

I bought Kathy Smith's March to Fitness tape. I've been looking for a copy for a while and am glad to have found one.

Tuesday Cardio & Yoga

Today I did the old WalkAerobics video (30 min) and then Stephanie Foster's Beginning Yoga tape (15 min). It's been pretty cold, in the house. I need to turn the heat up next time or I'm bound to pull a muscle.

They are still jack hammering today, but are on lunch now. UGH!

My Golden Retriever Posted by Hello

Monday Cardio & Strength

Today I did the Buns of Steel Step tape. It was only 24 minutes and was way to easy, I didn't even break a sweat. Denise Austin of Susan Powter are a lot better. They didn't move the arm and I guess that was the problem. Then I did Denise Austins Shortcuts for Arms (10 minutes) and then her Get Fit Fast Abs (10 minutes). Maybe later I will do a 3 mile Leslie Sansone or the Prevention Walking tape, because I can't really count that step tape.

Oh my god! They just started jack hammering out the manhole and gas main covers. I didn't know they were so close. My poor old nearly deaf dog can hear it and it's really bothering him because usually he doesn't hear very many noises. Hope it's over quick and they get the lines painted back right, they are no shoulder lines and no reflector pieces in the middle right now and they paved about 2 weeks ago.

Sunday

Today I didn't exercise, unless you count vacuuming. I bought a new video, Buns of Steel 7 Intermediate/Advanced Step with Tamilee Webb. It looks pretty good. It's cold and wet again ugh.

Saturday Book Sale

Well today was the Seattle Public Library book sale. I got two big paper shopping bags full. It was quite a workout carrying them all the way back to the car. It was fun. And I got some cookbooks and a really old 1987 Walk Aerobics with Leslie Sansone, and Buns of Steel 2 Beginning Step Aerobics.

Friday, September 17, 2004

Friday Cardio

Today I did about 1/2 the Susan Power Burn Fat and Get Fit (16 min) and then from The Best of Step Reebok TV I did the Beginners Workout and the cooldown which included squats, so about 35 min total.

I bought Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds 3 Mile video.

Wednesday Cardio Yoga

Today I did the Richard Simmons Blast Off tape (20 minutes) and then the 20 minute conditioning session from Yoga Zone for Weight loss. It was easy exercise day, and tomorrow will be no exercise.

Last night Farrah was on Jimmy Kimmel and today I saw when I was putting a tape in that she was on Ellen. I don't even know what she was promoting, she's such a ditz. She just goes on and on about whatever comes into her head. She did seem to be embarrassed that her stomach wasn't flat in her famous poster. She said it's flatter now. OK. Amish in the City is on tonight. I like it because they do all sorts of fun places and interesting things. I think it would be really hard for any of the Amish kids to go back and lead a simple life after all their experiences.

It's really getting cold here, I hope it warms up soon. Bye.

Tuesday Strength

Today I did Denise Austin's Totally Firm video (45 min). I used the ball for a bench and did the ab work on it too. Boy that's a tough video, but she's so nice you just keep going.

I went to vote in the Primary Election. The old people who where working there were talking Really Loud the whole time. Because of a Supreme Court decision, we have to choose a party and only vote within that party, what a pain. What freedom is there in that??

Monday Cardio

Yesterday I cleaned the roof gutters (big fun), I wore an old pair of size 12 jeans that are now "yard pants". The were really big, funny it doesn't seem like I am the much thinner but I am. I used to wear 14's at one point they are to big to use as yard pants now.

Well this morning I was off to a certain thrift store to look for a Cardio Glide for mom. They had 3 or 4 the last time I was there and today there where none. UGH! But mom got two pairs of wind pants to wear for walking and a cute pair of knit cotton pants and a toaster oven. I got a new video, Prevention (magazine) Walk your way Slim. It's led by Michelle Dozois and one of the ladies is in the Walk Away the pounds videos and a younger lady. It's not really walking, it's 45 minutes hi/lo cardio which I did tonight. I recently bought a Richard Simmons tape called Blast Off that's 20 minutes which I've watched but not done it but it looks good. Maybe tomorrow. Good night.

Sunday Walking

Today I did the first 15 mins of Groovin' in the House then Mom and I did the One mile in home walking (20 minutes). I bought a new video today, Richard Simmon's Blast Off, it's 20 minutes. And I got the 4th Harry Potter book from the library today. Goodnight.

Saturday Yoga

Today I did Yoga Zone Yoga for Flexibility and Stress Release (1 hour). It was long but not to hard. I had never done it before but with Alan Finger's detailed descriptions and wonderful voice you don't have to look at the tv constantly. I couldn't do the Raven, but it's something to work towards. It was more relaxing than many other yoga videos, and it had a great New Agey 10 minute relaxation at the end. I got an hour long Winsor Pilates video and The Method All in One Workout at the Library today. They were supposed to have the 4th Harry Potter book in that I reserved but it wasn't there. Oh well, I'll just request it again.

Last night I rented "The Whole 10 yards." It was not that great, to long and they were trying to hard to be funny. Waste of time.

Last night it was very windy and it rained. Today will to rain I'm sure. I hope so because it's pretty humid. Have a great night.

Friday Cardio and Pilates

Today I did the Zumba for Beginners video (30 min) and then the pilates exercises with the ball from Denise Austin's new book. Have a great weekend.

Wednesday Strength

Today I did Denise Austin's Totally Firm (45 min). It was tough, but I'd do it again. She's encouraging and not screamy like Kathy Smith.

It's really nice and sunny today with a good breeze. Yesterday I started feeling yucky and tired again in the afternoon. I think it's the paint fumes from next door. They are still painting, it's taking forever and it's on a one story house! I will get out of her before it gets to me today. Can't wait until they are done. I have a lot of work to do but will have to do most of it tomorow, I can sit here so near the paint fumes for too long. I'll blog again soon.

Tuesday Cardio & Yoga

Well yesterday I felt really tired in the afternoon, but least my wrists didn't hurt. That made me decide to take it easy today.

At 7 am they started repaving the street and then the painters came back next door and sanded to drilled or something else annoying. I am tired. Well I was just going to chuck it and not exercise today but decided maybe I would feel better if I did. So I did Richard Simmons Broadway Blast (25 min). The music was awful but the dancing was ok. Then I did the second section from Yoga Zone Yoga for Weight Loss that is "conditioning" and it was only 20 minutes.

The pain has been very bad today, loss of sleep hasn't helped. After lunch I took and Aleive. At least I don't feel exhausted like yesterday.

It's nice and sunny today. It's a pain in the ass having to keep the windows closed because of the paint smell! There are lots of ripe tomatoes to pick so I'll do that later. I've been growing herbs and drying them so I will be putting those away too. I have Lemon Tyme, Sweet Basil and Greek Oregano. The Oregano leaves are so small that I don't end up with enough. It's a perenial so maybe next year I will grow a sufficent amount. I am reading "Case without a Corpse," it was written in the 1930's. I got it from the Seattle Library sale last spring. The fall sale in September 18th and 19.

Monday Walking & Yoga

Today I did the Walk Away the Pounds 1 mile video and then Crunch the Joy of Yoga. They did a lot of Downward dog, I hope my wrists don't hurt later. It's been a long time since I've done that video, I like Crunch Candlelight Yoga better.

I've had my Cocker Spaniel for 12 years this weekend, he was just 6 weeks old. He's still very active, I'm happy to report. I wish I had his energy!

Well, back to work.

Sunday Cardio/Strength

Today I did SP's Burn Fat and Get Fit Video with a step with no risers. I think maybe next time I won't use the step.

I got a new Victoria's Secret Bra. I have a big bag of old bras in my closet that are to big now. I guess if I'm ever pregant I could wear them. Oh, well I'll probably give them away eventually but they are like new.

Saturday, September 04, 2004

Saturday Walking and Abs

Today I did my new Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Pounds 1 Mile (2001) video (20 minutes). And Abs Yoga (20 minutes). The ab exercises are really tough but I will stick with it.

Friday, September 03, 2004

Friday Cardio/Strength

Today I did Susan Powter's video Burn Fat and Get Fit. It's interval training, 3 minutes of aerobics and then 1 minute of weights, I used 3 lb weights. I got a new 1 mile Leslie Sansone video today.

The last three morinings I've been waking up 1 to 1 1/2 hours early and then I can't fall asleep again. I don't know why but wish it would stop, I'm tired.

Thursday Real Walking

Today I took the bus to the Seattle Art Museum to see the Van Gogh exhibit. There was such a long line we just turned around and came back home. So I walked a lot. I'm so tired. It was so gross and nasty downtown, I must remember that and never go back.

Wednesday, September 01, 2004

Wednesday Cardio & Strength

Today I did Richard Simmons Sweatin' To the Oldies 2, (35 min) then Denise Austins Shortcuts for arms section 1 and some sqats and lunges. Bye for now.
